MultiMail 1.0
A Offline Mail Door for the TriBBS (R) Bulletin Board System
Copyright (c) 1996 By ProSoft
MultiMail 1.00 is distributed as shareware. MultiMail is a offline
mail door that will allow your callers to use offline mail readers
like SLMR, EZ-Reader, Winoffline, Session Manager, RoboMail, OLX, etc.
to read mail offline. Not only will your callers find reading
mail with an offline reader more enjoyable, your board will not
be unnecessarily tied up by callers reading umpteen million
messages online. MultiMail is the only door created for TriBBS
that allows for QWK/QWKE/BlueWave and the soon coming XNet.3a
offline mail formats to be downloaded from the same door.
THE MULTIMAIL DIRECTORY
---------------------
The first step during the MultiMail installation process is to create a
directory for the door and copy the files MULTIM.EXE, DOOR.CFG, and
the menu configuration files (*.MNU) to the newly created directory. The
optional menu files (*.ANS, *.BBS) may also be copied there.
MODIFYING DOORS.MNU
-------------------
The next step is to add a line to your board's DOORS.MNU file to add
the door to the Doors Menu. The following is an example of the line
you should include in your DOORS.MNU file:
T,MultiMail,MULTIM,10
The above line tells TriBBS to generate TRIBBS.SYS, use a description
of "MultiMail" in the Doors Menu, run the batch file "MULTIM" to run
the door, and set the door's minimum security level to 10.
THE DOOR'S BATCH FILE
---------------------
The next step is to create the door's batch file. The following is an
example MultiMail batch file:
cd \doors\MULTIM
MultiM door.cfg
cd \tribbs
board
The following is a line-by-line description of the above batch file:
cd \doors\MultiM <- Change to the door's directory
MultiM door.cfg <- Run MultiMail and specify the
<- configuration file
cd \tribbs <- Change back to TriBBS's
<- directory
board <- Run TriBBS again
MODIFYING DOOR.CFG
--------------------
The next step is to modify DOOR.CFG to meet your board's needs. The
following is a sample DOOR.CFG file:
TRIBBS
C:\TRIBBS
City Scape BBS
David Alger
38400
1
TEST
C:\TRIBBS
C:\QMPRO\DOWNLOAD
C:\QMPRO\DOWNLOAD
1:321/328
EST
The following is a line-by-line description of TMAIL1.CFG:
TRIBBS <- The door uses TRIBBS.SYS
C:\TRIBBS <- The directory where TRIBBS.SYS is located.
City Scape BBS <- The board's name.
David Alger <- The sysop's name.
38400 <- The board's locked baud rate or 0 for not
<- locked.
1 <- The node number.
TEST <- Your board's id. (8 chars max)
C:\TRIBBS <- Your board's node directory.
C:\ROBOMAIL\ <- The location for MultiMail to copy offline
<- packets to.
C:\ROBOMAIL\ <- The location for MuliMail to get REP packets
<- from during a local logon. In other words, the
<- directory you use for your mail reader.
1:321/328 <- The 3D or 4D FidoNet Address of your
<- board, leave blank if none.
EST <- The TimeZone you currently live in.
IMPORTANT: MultiMail requires the programs PKZIP.EXE, PKUNZIP.EXE,
ARJ.EXE, and LHA.EXE to be in your DOS PATH.
NONSTANDARD IRQS
----------------
MultiMail supports nonstandard IRQs. If a nonstandard IRQ is being used
with your board, simply specify the IRQ number being used after the
MultiMail configuration file's name in the MultiMail batch file. The
following example shows how the above MultiMail batch file could be
modified so that MultiMail will use IRQ 5:
cd \doors\MultiMail
MultiM door.cfg 5
cd \tribbs
board
MULTINODES
----------
MultiMail DOES NOT currently support MultiLine BBS's, use only
on SINGLE NODE BBS'S!
OFFLINE CONFIGURATION MESSAGES
{NOT AVAILIBLE YET}
------------------------------
Users can send configuration messages to MultiMail by addressing
them to "MultiMail" and using the following commands in the body of
the message.
=================================================================
Command Action
------------------------------------------------------------------
ADD <conf> Adds the conference the message is in to the
user's conference queue.
ADD <conf> n Adds the conference the message is in to the
user's conference queue and sets the conference's
last message read pointer to the value specified
by "n". If this number is negative it will subtract
from the current high number, so if you want the last
100 messages, enter "-100".
BLTS OFF Configures the user's settings so that updated
bulletins will not be included in the user's offline
packets.
BLTS ON Configures the user's settings so that updated
bulletins will be included in his offline packets.
DROP <conf> Drops the conference the message is in from the
user's conference queue. The Conference is specified
by <conf>.
FILES OFF Configures the user's settings so that a list of
new files will not be included in the user's offline
packets.
FILES ON Configures the user's settings so that a list of
new files will be included in the user's offline
packets.
INTERNET <name> Configures the user's settings to the <name> for his
internet address.
NEWS OFF Configures the user's settings so that the news
letter will not be included in the packet.
NEWS ON Configures the users settings to that the news
letter will be included in the packet.
RESET <conf> n Sets the last message read pointer for the
conference that the message is in to the value
specified by "n".

MENU FILES
----------
The Menu Files are designed to act and feel like the internal TriBBS
menu's. There are currently two menus availble:
MAIN.MNU and SELECT.MNU, MAIN is used for the main screens, and if
the current directory contains MAIN.BBS/ANS it will display those.
Please note that the .BBS version doesn't support @-AT Codes or Color
Codes. SELECT.BBS/ANS will be displayed when the user is asked to select
<A>ll Messages, <Y>our Messages, <T>o "ALL" and Yours, or <D> Don't Select.
Heres a list of current "hard key" assignments.
MAIN.MNU
I - Information List
D - Download
U - Upload
G - GoodBye
Q - Quit
S - Select Conferences
SELECT.MNU
A - All Messages
Y - Your Messages
T - To "ALL" and Yours
D - Don't Select
COMMON CONFIGURATION PROBLEMS
-----------------------------
The two most common errors that occur when setting up MultiMail is to
use a version of MultiMail that is not compatible with the version of
TriBBS being used and not having enough FILES and BUFFERS specified in
CONFIG.SYS. MultiMail 1.x is designed to work with TriBBS 10.x. You
should not use it with any pre-10.0 version of TriBBS. Both TriBBS and
MultiMail are very disk intensive programs; therefore, they require a
great deal of resources to work properly. Not having enough FILES and
BUFFERS can cause MultiMail to either behave unpredictably or even not
to function at all.
